Phyllis Carter, beloved member of the Library Foundation died
Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the United Presbyterian Home following an extended
illness. Her involvement in our project was great, her support deeply
appreciated and she will be sorely missed.
Phyllis Carter happily retired after 30 years of teaching, 21 of which were spent at Mid-Prairie Junior High School. Her late husband, Bob, was a
Washington native; Phyllis grew up in Crawfordsville. Phyllis' son, John
Carter and his wife Kim have three children: Lauren, 11; Jack, 7; and Roy,
3. Roy recently told his grandmother Phyllis, "I just love it when you read
books to me." Phyllis' reaction was, "What more could a grandmother want?"
The last book Phyllis checked out of the library was State of Denial by Bob
Woodward. Her favorites are books about "history, political science and good
fiction," and she also enjoyed the library's Friday night movies.
