Sue Basten grew up on a farm in the small northwest Iowa community of Gilmore City. After graduation, she attended the University of Northern Iowa where she obtained her BA degree, and also met her husband Tom. Because of a promotion with the Department of Natural Resources, the family chose to move to Washington two and a half years ago. Tom and Sue have two sons, Kyle age 9, and Reid age 7. Sue works for Washington State Bank as a credit analyst and enjoys the opportunities she has to volunteer in the community. She serves on numerous committees, including the Library Trustees and Washington Free Public Library Foundation. At the Library she spends most of her time with her boys in the Children's Room picking out beginning reader books, computer games, and non-fictions books on inventions and how to draw. Every night after picking up her children from daycare, she hears, "Mom, can we go to the Library?"
